My Third Week

First off, the titles have got to end. It’s old already. The countdown from when I left the pokey almost sent me over the edge. So, this stops right here.

Second off, I know. I’m not keeping up with the blog. I’m sorry. These people actually want me to do something work related while I’m here. Just joking!! I mean, they do want me to do something work related, but that comment hinted that at the pokey I did not. And we all know that’s not true. I was the glue that held that place together. Deny it if you dare!!

This week I am reading more Medicaid manual. It’s all on the computer. There is no hard copy. I am convinced that this is because it would be in a room by itself. You read a chapter and re read the same thing several times. I never had any idea that this would actually be kind of hard. I’m serious. It is hard. There are all these different categories of need and then subcategories and different rules for each. Sometimes you count resources and sometimes you don’t. But, I think I’m finally getting the hang of it.

Our caseload is divided into ABD (Aged, Blind, Diabled) and F&C (Families and Children). You do one group or the other. I will be families and children. I have no idea which is the lesser of the two evils. Within that group, I will be given a range of the alphabet and those will be my cases. I will do Medicaid and Food Stamps. I am starting off with just Medicaid and then I’ll learn Food Stamps. There are different rules for both. Different income limits and whether or not to count resources. The same is true for ABD; they have different rules for their different groups too. It’s crazy.

I’ve got these dang income charts that are all these different colors for the different programs and such. It’s crazy. And if you ever get bored, here’s some fun reading for you.
MEDICAID MANUAL It’s the manual I’m reading. Yay!! No, I am not disseminating private information. This bad boy is on the internet. Pop yourself some popcorn and strap on a diaper because you’re going to be here for a while.

Well, I better get back to my manual. I think I’m finally starting to get the hang of this stuff.

I lost it at "strap on a diaper"! You are too much!!! I really needed that kind of a laugh at 1630 on a Wednesday......I miss your funny little comments more than you can imagine. Sometimes they just come out of you and you don't even know it. There you are, banana boatin' around and WHAM!, you throw out a Fresh Meat Express in the vegetable area! Sick-O!!!
