Reader Beware: Not for the Faint of Heart

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that my pee smelled funny. And I don’t mean funny, ha ha. I mean it’s smelt like I’ve never smelt my pee smelling before. And this was not a fresh from the bed, first thing in the morning, school bus yellow pee. This was any time of the day.

At first I thought it was my toilet at home. Maybe it needed to be cleaned or something. Nope. Maybe there’s something behind it that’s rotting out of sight. Not that either. Then I noticed the pee smell at work. The one common denominator here is me. That right, there’s something in me that’s making the weird smelling pee.

All these crazy thoughts are running through my mind. Is it related to diabetes? I’ve never had a problem with my sugar before, not even close. Not to mention for almost the past month I’ve been eating much better and exercising at least 5 days a week. So then I thought maybe that’s it. Maybe I’m burning so much fat and junk out of my body its making stinky pee.

I say stinky, it’s not like pee smells good. I don’t even normally smell my pee!!! But there’s something about this that’s just not right. I’m thinking of doing some internet research. And if that leads nowhere, I’m calling the Dr. It’s starting to scare me. What if my insides are rotting and there’s coming out in my pee!!! I didn’t even tell Hubby about this until just the other day. And of course, he shrugged it off. I am not crazy!!! This is not normal!!!

Well, as I was chatting with Sgt Fuzzy (that’s my supervisor) today, I mention that the only thing I had for dinner last night was asparagus and a sweet potato. He gives me some big spiel about asparagus. I’ll leave it at that. Believe me when I say, no details required. But, it did make me think; maybe this asparagus is making my pee smell funny. It seems ridiculous, but I’ve been eating this stuff at least once week for the past few weeks. So I look it up on the internet and sure enough, it does!!! Asparagus has some sort of something in it that gives your pee a funny smell, as soon as 15 – 20 minutes after you eat it. If you don’t believe me, Google it for yourself!! Man, am I relieved!! Now I shall rejoice in my stinky pee because it means I’m eating healthy asparagus!!!
