The Winds of Confusion

I have a supervisor. She is very busy and has a lot on her desk. A LOT!!! You can’t even see the desk. She knows and embraces it. It drives me nuts, but that’s my problem. At least I don’t have to sit in there.

So, I have to ask her numerous questions. Apparently a lot of other people do too. I have to wait in line with a question. I understand that I am not to the point of doing things by myself. I’m fine with that. It’s just frustrating to have to come to a stop waiting on someone to help me.

There’s also the fact that she will tell me one thing and then someone else will tell me that she said for me to do something else. Do what? Then I don’t know what to do. I hate to go back and ask her. I don’t want someone to think I don’t trust them or don’t want to help them. I just want everyone to be on the same page.

I am an independent worker if you just tell me what to do. When you give me step 1 and then send me off to work, I have to come back to you for step 2. If you give me precise directions and send me off to work, I can come back when I’m done or I have a problem. I won’t have to keep bothering you.

There’s also the fact that I don’t know how independent they want me to be. There are things I can do myself and figure out myself, but sometimes people like to walk you through things. I can understand that, but please just tell me. If you don’t tell me, I don’t know.

I am getting a feel for things and the people. I understand that some of my frustration is shared by others. I guess it’s just one of the things that you accept and get used to. I have decided that I’m not going to let this job stress me out. I will do what I can and that’s it. No stress for me!!!
