Saucy
Hey, lady at the fast food place! Did you forget that I asked for ranch because you forgot to put it in my bag? I asked for ranch because I ordered the spicy chicken thingies. You can't eat spicy without the cool. But here I am eating my spicy chicken thingies minus the cooling ranch. How unenjoyable. (Cue flames shooting out my mouth!!)

October Beans
Well, I finally know what October beans are.
Hubby’s mom (Terri) offered to cook dinner for us last night. A couple weeks ago we stopped by her house and she had Hubby’s brother’s family over for dinner. It wasn’t a big deal to us, but she was all to pieces over it. So last night was our night.
I asked Hubby on Wednesday night what she was making and he tells me October beans. Now I’m thinking he’s joking because I’ve never heard of them before and his dad is there laughing about pigs feet and all sorts of silly stuff. I didn’t take him seriously.
So, yesterday I ask Hubby again… What’s for dinner?
He says, I already told you. (I’m feeling nervous at this point.)
Again he says, October beans and corn on the cob and he’s not sure what else.
I’m not a huge bean fan. I like green beans, pintos, kidneys and that’s about it. Beans are weird. They are firm but mushy and taste like grass or dirt if not seasoned properly.
So at that point I’m thinking I need to eat a big lunch because I’m going to be served October beans for dinner. Notice I didn’t say I would be eating October beans for dinner. I’m sorry, but I’m not one to eat something just to be nice. Sorry!!! My insides can’t handle it.
I asked a couple of people at work and they’ve never heard of them either. What are these mysterious October beans? I guess I will see.
We get there and we have BBQ pork chops (maybe those are the pigs feet previously referred to???), corn on the cob, baked potato, macaroni and cheese, AND October beans!! (Can we say starch-fest? Oh well, a little starch never hurt anyone, right?)
They are brownish beans about the size of kidneys, seasoned with pork. (As not to taste like grass or dirt) They were pretty good.
I told Hubby’s mom that I’d never heard of them before and of course I end up being the big dork. What’s new?
So now I’m an expert on these infamous October beans. I know exactly what they are.
Hubby’s brother’s family showed up a bit later and Terri offers them some of our feast. So I pipe up to encourage them to enjoy my newly discovered beans.
Here’s me… Hey, do you want some Oklahoma beans? (Terri looks at me funny), Oh, I mean, California beans. (An even funnier look) I mean…
October beans, Terri says.
Yes, right, October beans.
Oh yes, October beans!!!

Hubby, the Preacher
I’m still trying to recuperate after my fall. I am so sore. I think I need bed rest for a week or so. I’m sure Hubby would love that!!! I’ve been so sickly during this pregnancy; he might just change his mind about more kids.
Speaking of Hubby, his dad was sick this past weekend, so he was not in church. He called upon Hubby to do a lil’ preachin’ on Sunday night. Church starts at 6 and is usually over about 7 or shortly after. The first 20 – 30 mins is spent on singing, announcements, offering, etc. The last 30 – 40 mins is the preachin’.
I was not able to attend because I was on bed rest all day, which strangely was ordered by Hubby. When he got home he told me it went well but he went a little long. I didn’t think anything of it. He said he got good feedback. I was happy for him because he loves to preach. (He even does it at home when I’m the only one in his audience… if you catch my drift.)
All the sermons are on the church’s website, so yesterday at lunch I took the opportunity to listen to Hubby’s. He preached for an hour. No, not an hour for the entire service, an hour just for Hubby preaching. And I could tell at the end he was trying to wrap things up quickly.
I could just imagine some of those people sitting in there looking at their watches as 7 came and went and Hubby was still going strong!! Ha ha That just tickles me because some people want to come to church and get in and out so they feel like they’ve done their Christian duty for the day. That’s not what it’s all about.
I’m glad Hubby did a good job and got good feedback. I’m glad he preaches what God lays on his heart. So many preachers today are worried about pleasing the people instead of pleasing God. I’ve got a good Hubby and an AWESOME God.

What I Didn't Get To Do
Since I didn't get to do a project this weekend, I thought I would still post links to what I hoped to accomplish. I think both of these look easy and inexpensive. I will make at least one of these in the coming weeks and I will post pictures. Thanks for the great ideas, Texas Monkey!!

Ouch!!
Well, my plans for the weekend were a bust. I planned to do a little project and Hubby was going to plant some tomato plants. I just wanted to get outside and enjoy the weather. That didn't happen.
I fell getting out of the shower yesterday morning. I landed hard on my left hip. Luckily I didn't fall on my right hip which I fractured a couple of years ago in a wreck. It still hurts pretty bad. I tried to get a few things done yesterday but my hip and back hurt worse by the minute. I had to get Hubby to help me get up into bed last night.
It feels a little better this morning so I'm trying to stay off my feet all day. It hurts to sit down so I'm going to be in trouble when I go back to work tomorrow. I do have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning, so we'll see what he has to say. I just hope I haven't done any serious damage in there.
I can still feel "Chubby" moving around in there so I feel confident that he's just fine. And that's all that really matters.

Projects
I'm gonna do a project this weekend. If all goes well, I will post pics and link back to where I found it. That way, you will have nice easy to follow instructions if you want to try it yourself. If it doesn't go well, I doubt the girl wants me linking my shabby mess back to her. Wish me luck.
Hubby also plans to do some planting/gardening this weekend. I will take pics of that too. Exciting!!!

I Love It...
… when the baby kicks.
… when Gavin hugs me and says, “I love you Mom”.
… when I get up in the morning and Hubby has cleaned the kitchen. (This implies that I go to bed with a dirty kitchen. Disregard this thought.)
…when I toss my hair and I hear my earrings jingle.
…when I have a tan.
…when Hubby says something romantic/heartfelt/meaningful out of the blue without my prodding or hinting or telling him to say it. (Hubby is not a very "emotional" person, so these little displays of affection are really special.)
…when a good “old” song comes on the radio and I can crank it up and sing. Even better when Hubby or Gavin is in the car to join in.
Feel free to comment and share your own.

Sweet Baby
Chubby is moving and grooving all day long. Up until a week or so ago his movements were few and far between. Now all of a sudden, he’s moving all the time. Hubby has been able to feel him too. He’s moving right now as I type. This is so exciting!!
I don’t remember feeling Gavin move that much when I was pregnant with him, but that was so long ago. I do remember things being a little easier on me then. Of course, I was almost 10 years younger.
Oh my, I’m old.
And to think Hubby wants more babies after this one. I will be in sad shape when this is all over with.

Baby Stuff
I’ve got a few things for the baby so far. I've got a changing table, swing, playpen. I still need a crib and some other odds and ends I assume I'll get at my shower.
My sister in law gave me 2 trash bags full of clothes. Wow!! Here’s a picture of a onesie she picked up for the little man. I’m sure he’ll love it. Isn't it cute? It looks like a little Hawaiian shirt.
I am so excited about the baby!!! I can't wait til he gets here. The time passes quickly, but slowly at the same time. We struggled so much to get to this point. God has blessed us so richly with this sweet little baby.

Thanks to Bree at Thinking Outside the Box for pointing me in the right direction to find a new blog design. I love it!!!

Template
I need a new design for my blog. You know, one of those template thingies. Something pretty and stylish that looks neat and clean. Any suggestions as to the best place to find a good selection?
Oh, and did I mention I would like free ones?
Yeah, that too.

Baby Registry
The closest store in my area is Wal-Mart. Its 20 – 30 minutes to the nearest mall, Target, or K-Mart. I know I need to do a baby registry but I am a lazy slug and I don’t want to drive those 20 – 30 minutes to get to Target to register. That’s easy, I can just go on-line and do my baby registry. Yay!! I’m so excited to pick out all these neat things for baby.
I go to Target.com and create my registry. Now it’s time to shop!!! It’s very hard to navigate on here and find what I’m looking for. The big things are easy to find but I’m looking for the little things… sheets, mattress covers, towels, washcloths, etc. We’ve already got the big stuff.
OK, I’ve finally found some towels and washcloths. They are so cute. Wait a minute, this is only available on-line. Oh, this too. And this too. What the heck??? Does Target not have anything in there store???
I don’t expect anyone to order on-line and have this stuff shipped. I expect them to drive those 20 – 30 minutes to go into the actual store. They need to browse around and handle these items to ensure a good quality purchase for my baby.
Not to mention, some of the people I expect at my shower live out in the boonies. You know, turn at the old brown cow onto the gravel road and travel about 3 miles to the old barn and then turn onto the dirt road beside the tree stump, blah, blah, blah. You get my meaning. These people are gonna gather up their posse and make a big event of this little trip into town to purchase something for my dear baby.
I have to calm down. I let these things get me all worked up. And honestly, what am I worried about? Some of them will probably just make something out of the wool they’ve sheared from their sheep.

Labels
I am going back and labeling all my previous posts. This is going to take forever!!!
I just noticed that when I use 2 labels for 1 post its always either Food & Church or Food & Holidays. Is there some sort of pattern here? I do believe there is.

I'm Having a Baby!!!
No, not literally right this minute. Actually, I am impregnated. The little man won’t be here for a few more months.
In the meantime, I am trying to get through this maternity clothes nightmare. And it is a nightmare. Nothing fits right. Pants don’t fit. If they fit my legs, they can’t be trusted to fit my stomach another week. If they fit my stomach, the legs don’t fit or the crotch is halfway to my knees.
And tops… why is everything skin tight? Just because you normally wear a size 2 and you want your XS maternity tops to be skin tight so we can see your innie that’s now an outie, does not mean that every woman wants that.
I ain’t no size 2. I ain’t no size 10. Let’s not even get into what size I am. The point is, let me have some tops that “fit”. I mean, can you honestly say that you want to see me in a skin tight top when I’m pregnant? Or not pregnant for that matter? No, you can’t honestly say that, and if you do, you are a freak of nature. Period.
So I’ve found a few things that fit and I’ve bought some stretchy pants that are a few sizes too big. You can beat stretchy pants. And while I might not be the fashionista that I normally am, at least you can’t see my innie that’s still an innie.

Red Velvet Trifle
Here's a picture of the red velvet trifle I made. You just bake a red velvet cake and I cut mine into small squares. Then mix up some cheesecake pudding and mix in some cream cheese. You layer the cake and pudding. I also put mini chocolate chips on top of the pudding layers. This gives it a little "crunch". I got lots of compliments on it. It's really good!!!

I'm Triflin'
Yes, I'm triflin'. I made a trifle this weekend. It was really good!!! I used granola cereal, mixed berries and low fat vanilla yogurt. It looked really pretty in the bowl and it tasted good too. I should have taken a picture. I got lots of oohs and aahs. That's what I like.
I'm thinking of making a red velvet trifle for a Christmas party here at work. If it turns out, I'll take a picture.
Speaking of pictures, I still need to post pictures of my ornaments. I'm such a slacker!!!

Ebay
I have decided to ebay. Michael has started buying and selling on ebay and he’s becoming obsessed with it. I have crafty stuff here and there and the stuff I make. It can’t hurt to put it out there and see what happens. Now that I’m thinking about it though, I’m thinking of random things around my house I can put on there. I don’t want to get carried away. I’m not very familiar with ebay, I’ve never bought anything off there. Any advice?

What Is It About Me?
When I finished getting ready this morning, I told my husband what a lucky man he is. He’s lucky to be married to such an attractive woman as me. hee hee Now the reason I told him this is because he’s always telling me how lucky I am to be married to such a good looking man.
Rewind a few weeks to my new haircut. I came in to work and one woman told me that she likes my hair. Then she proceeds to tell me that her son's hair looks kind of like mine… if he’s slept on his back all night. I didn’t even say anything, I just stared at her. Then she tells me again that she likes it. Do what? What kind of thing is that to say to anyone? Several people that overheard that told me later that they couldn’t believe she would say something like that.
Now fast forward back to today. My top is black, brown, dark limish green and a creamish color. It has a square neck trimmed in black and ¾ length sleeves trimmed in black. It’s a cute top. I got is from my secret sister for Christmas. I just so happen to have some dark lime green shimmery earrings that match it. They are dangly. I am excited that they match because I like the earrings and don't have much to match them.
So I’m standing at the copier and a woman asks me where I got my earrings. And not in a way as if she wants some for herself, in a way like she can’t believe I would be wearing them. I told her I couldn’t remember where I got them. Then she asks me if they don’t bother me touching my neck. Do what? Number 1, they really don’t touch my neck and Number 2, do what? I mean, really? Did you just ask me that? Do they bother me touching my neck?
The only reason I can think of that these woman are making rude remarks to me is that they are jealous of my style and beauty. This story has just come full circle. I am better looking than I originally thought this morning. Otherwise these “older” women would not feel the needs to make rude remarks about me.
I realize that not everyone likes to dress up or fix their hair or wear makeup or earrings or anything other than blue jeans and t-shirt. But don’t hate on someone that does.
Here's the earrings. They look almost like a cluster of grapes. They are very light and not uncomfortable at all. Shimmery....

Ornaments #2
When I painted the ornaments, it's like the dough is sucking the paint into it. It's weird. Plus, when they dry out the surface is rough and not smooth. I'm gonna try to find a new recipe to try that produces a smooth surface to paint on. Once I get a few more painted, I will post the pics.
